Always a step ahead

teamtechnik leads the way with new technologies, cell types and trends in stringer technology. In our own competence center our specialists achieve the best soldering and connection results – even where there are no standards or previous experience. We carry out long-term experiments, improve processing output for both standard and new cell technologies, and see them through from initial testing to series production.

At your side – from the start

Whether wide-ranging applications or different circumstances are involved – we support all our customers from the start. At the teamtechnik competence center, we test your new cell and ribbon materials. Many years' experience with a wide range of different material combinations means reliable soldering.

Working with our customers, we carry out pre-testing on special laboratory systems. The results of these tests are used to determine the design of customized stringers.

4–6 busbar cells

The trend in new cell types is towards a higher number of busbars. The benefit: The Ohm losses in the cell are reduced, which enables the solar module to achieve a higher output. The more busbars, the thinner the ribbons. No problem for teamtechnik stringers.

The STRINGER TT machine concept is ideal for processing different types of ribbons. These systems fix the ribbon to the cell for the whole process so that even very narrow ribbons can be soldered securely. We are also working towards serial production of stringers for soldering more than 5 busbars – thanks to our hold-down technology.

Half-cells

Another trend is the processing of half-cells. The benefit of a half-cell is that Ohm losses can be reduced here as well, and output increased by 5-10 watts per module. The ribbons for half-cells have a smaller cross-section. Half-cells can also be soldered on our standard stringers.

With new hold-down devices, an important tool in our STRINGER TT. There is also an option to convert existing STRINGER TTs to half-cell processing or vice versa, from half-cell to full cell.

Back contact cells

teamtechnik supplied the first stringer systems for Back contact (BC) cells as early as 2005. Our experienced specialists in this cell technology are able to build stringers which can solder any kind of back contact cell, including IBC, MWT and EWT cells.

Our specialists are experts in completely accurate ribbon positioning and in the insulation required in BC cells to avoid short-circuits. Worldwide, the proportion of back contact cells is expected to increase significantly, and teamtechnik can already offer reliable answers and solutions.

Adhesive technology

The new high-efficiency cells cannot be soldered because their cell structure and the topmost cell layer are too sensitive to high temperatures. The solution is to connect the cells with ribbons using electrically conductive adhesives which can be hardened at significantly lower temperatures.

Using adhesive reduces the thermal and mechanical stresses in the cell. teamtechnik has strongly promoted the use of adhesive in recent years, and was the first company to market a stringer with short cycle times using this technique. We showed for the first time that it is possible to develop adhesive technology for connecting solar cells to series production. In 2014, we brought our own highly standardized stringer using this process to market.

Structured ribbons

Structured ribbons use the "total reflection" to reflect the sunlight falling on the active cell surface through the module glass. This means that the area shaded by the ribbon in the solar cell can also be used to improve efficiency. The additional output from the module can amount to 3%.

Structured silver-coated ribbons are a challenge for the soldering process. They cannot be soldered on traditional stringers without auxiliary devices. However, teamtechnik has developed a solution for standard soldering stringers with which each teamtechnik stringer can be upgraded to process structured ribbons.

Our experience has shown that these ribbons can be processed even better in combination with adhesive technology. Experiments with the STRINGER TT ECA 1400 developed by teamtechnik have yielded some excellent results.
