A Chinese automobile manufacturer and an international manufacturer of transmission systems have both commissioned automation specialist teamtechnik to develop custom functional test systems for dual-clutch transmissions almost simultaneously. For the Freiberg-based technology leader this represents the continuation of two successful customer relationships. Both of these orders have a volume in the double-digit million range.

The Chinese order includes a new test field and the extension of an existing order for hybrid vehicles. Here teamtechnik is not merely a vendor; with its specialists involved on site in the project team, it is closely involved. In both companies, partner-like cooperation is valued highly, from test engineering through to series production. ‘This significantly reduces the ramp-up time for the customer’, reports Hartmut Berger, Executive Vice President for Test Systems at teamtechnik. In China the company is the undisputed market leader for DCT functional testing.

Back in the early 1990s teamtechnik developed the first test benches for manual transmissions for an international transmissions specialist. Since that time the company has ordered almost 100 test benches from the German-based expert. teamtechnik impressed this globally active transmission systems manufacturer with the consistently high quality of its test benches. With their identical hardware and software, measurement results are comparable all over the world. Thanks to its ease of use, teamtechnik testing software is also the benchmark for transmission testing.

To meet the complex testing requirements specific to each transmission type, teamtechnik developed the Compact Drive testing platform and has so far supplied more than 300 of these systems to transmission manufacturers worldwide. The platform uses tried-and-tested standard components and features a modular test bench architecture that can be adapted to different testing requirements and transmission types. This applies to all transmission types - from manual through to automatic, CVT, DCT and pure electronic drive and to hybrid drive transmissions. In addition to highly complex, fully-automated testing areas for conventional transmissions, the field of e-mobility testing areas is currently growing into a business area with high growth rates for teamtechnik.
